Portrait Photos

This week, as we have some students new to our class, we went over our Kawa of Care and how to access the Camera App. We built on our learning about how to take landscape photos from last session, and found out the best way to hold our iPad so that we could take portrait photos.

Whaea Michelle reminded us that tall things are good to photograph in a Portrait orientation and long things in a Landscape orientation.

Here is a portrait photo of Mr D after he had read us the book he wrote and had published – “Grandpa’s Beard”. It was so exciting to hear all about how he went about creating this. We know a real life published author!

Kawa of Care – part 3

Today we learnt a very tricky skill for our Kawa of Care: pinching the hard end of the cord and pulling it to remove the cord. We will keep practising this. Mrs O is going to give us lots of activities to help us with our pinching grip so we can get stronger and better at this.

We talked today about what we need to do with our iPad if we need to go to the wharepaku or leave it for any reason. We decided that if we left it turned over with the name facing up on the table, that it would be a safe place for the iPad and Mrs O and others would know whose it was.

Today Room 7  began exploring the ways we look after their iPads. We watched some videos, tested out our ideas, did some role play and settled on these ideas to start with:

Next week we will be practising these and adding more ideas to our list.
